"Be Somebody" Program
Sponsored by
Home-School Association
The School Programs Committee of the Home-School Association brought
another extraordinary program to Sacred Heart Elementary School! On March 20th,
Rob Surette, a well-known, local portrait artist performed his special, cultural
enrichment program for students, entitled "Be Somebody".
This
inspirational and motivational program communicates to the children the message
that "the key to happiness in life is finding what you're good at and then using
that talent to make the world a better place". Students are inspired to "make a
difference", as did many well-known "heroes" whose portraits are painted by Rob
Surette during the show. During the program at SHES, Rob Surette painted large
portraits of Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Mother Teresa, and Martin Luther
King, Jr. For more information visit Rob Surette's website at
www.amazingheroart.com.

Sponsors School Program
"Johnny
the K", renowned musician and teacher, performed his "Citizens of the World"
show recently at Sacred Heart Elementary School,
through the efforts of the School Programs Committee. Designed for student
participation, the show's message that "each of us can make a difference in our
school, in our community and in the world" reinforced our current school theme
of appreciating diversity. Through his interactive style and unique collection
of hats, John Kelleher entertained, educated and inspired the students with his
music and song!
Outdoor Family Liturgy
The Home-School Association sponsored an
outdoor Family
Mass and Picnic on Sunday, September 17th, on the grounds of Sacred
Heart Elementary School. An Offertory collection was taken to
benefit the mission in Peru operated by the Holy Cross
Fathers.
The Celebrant for our Mass was Rev.
John Denning, C. S. C. of Stonehill College.

The
Sacred Heart Elementary Home-School Association is responsible for
planning and funding special School Programs to supplement the curriculum,
as well as Family Programs to encourage fun,
social activities that
promote networking and relationship building among Sacred Heart families. The Communications Committee promotes community awareness of Sacred Heart
Elementary by submitting articles and photographs of interest for
publication in local community newspapers. The Home-School Association
coordinates advocacy and legislative awareness activities in collaboration
with PACE, the Parents Alliance for Catholic Education. Our Resource
Committee has the task of contacting and coordinating parent volunteers
for the many
school projects and activities that take place each year.
"Fun
Day" is one of the most popular annual events
sponsored by the Sacred
Heart Home School Association! This special day takes place in May and
features a wide variety of outdoor games, sports, and activities. Parents,
students and and teachers enjoy fun, food, and laughter! Dozens of parent
volunteers plan, organize and run the event each year.
