Home-School AssociationParent volunteer helps to wrap Easter baskets for third grade community service activity.
Parent involvement is supported and encouraged at Sacred Heart Elementary School. In addition to the Home-School Association,Parent volunteers assist with "centers" day activities! opportunities for parent involvement include lunch activities, clerical assistance, library volunteers, classroom activities, school projects, communications/publicity, bowling, soccer, and fundraising.  

Special Note for Volunteers - Please make sure you have completed the required CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) form and provided a copy of your driver's license to the school. The school is required to complete this background check for all volunteers.

Meetings
Home-School Association meetings are open to all Sacred Heart Elementary School parents. You are welcome to attend the meetings to learn more about the role of the Home-School Association or to explore ways that you may actively participate!

Home-School Association Meeting Schedule
All meetings are held on Monday evenings at 7:30 PM in the school auditorium. Attendees should park in Lot 2 and enter the building through the rear door. The following are the dates for the 2007-2008 Home-School Association meetings.

"Be Somebody" Program Sponsored by
Home-School Association
The School Programs Committee of the Home-School Association brought another extraordinary program to Sacred Heart Elementary School! On March 20th, Rob Surette, a well-known, local portrait artist performed his special, cultural enrichment program for students, entitled "Be Somebody". Rob Surette speaking with one of the parent representatives of the Home-School AssociationThis inspirational and motivational program communicates to the children the message that "the key to happiness in life is finding what you're good at and then using that talent to make the world a better place". Students are inspired to "make a difference", as did many well-known "heroes" whose portraits are painted by Rob Surette during the show. During the program at SHES, Rob Surette painted large portraits of Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Mother Teresa, and Martin Luther King, Jr. For more information visit Rob Surette's website at www.amazingheroart.com.

Home-School Association Sponsors School Program
Johnny the K wears one of his many unique hats during the performance!
"Johnny the K", renowned musician and teacher, performed his "Citizens of the World" show recently at Sacred Heart Elementary School,Students were entertained by the unique musical style of Johnny the K! through the efforts of the School Programs Committee. Designed for student participation, the show's message that "each of us can make a difference in our school, in our community and in the world" reinforced our current school theme of appreciating diversity. Through his interactive style and unique collection of hats, John Kelleher entertained, educated and inspired the students with his music and song!

Outdoor Family Liturgy
Fr. Denning preaching his sermon during MassThe Home-School Association sponsored an outdoor Family Mass and Picnic on Sunday, September 17th, on the grounds of Sacred Heart Elementary School. An Offertory collection was taken to benefit the mission in Peru operated by the Holy Cross Fathers. The Celebrant for our Mass was Rev. John Denning, C. S. The Sacred Heart Elementary Home-School Association is responsible for planning and funding special School Programs to supplement the curriculum, as well as Family Programs to encourage fun, social activities that promote networking and relationship building among Sacred Heart families. The Communications Committee promotes community awareness of Sacred Heart Elementary by submitting articles and photographs of interest for publication in local community newspapers. The Home-School Association coordinates advocacy and legislative awareness activities in collaboration with PACE, the Parents Alliance for Catholic Education. Our Resource Committee has the task of contacting and coordinating parent volunteers for the many Face Painting was one of the most popular features of Fun Dayschool projects and activities that take place each year.

"Fun Day" is one of the most popular annual events sponsored by the Sacred Heart Home School Association! This special day takes place in May and features a wide variety of outdoor games, sports, and activities. Parents, students and and teachers enjoy fun, food, and laughter! Dozens of parent volunteers plan, organize and run the event each year.

Bowling
- The Sacred Heart Elementary School Bowling League is organized by the Family Programs Committee of the Home-School Association.  Thanks to our parent and grandparent volunteers who drive, score and supervise bowling! Thanks also to Susan O'Neil for organizing the bowling program!
